Lance Pape


At the time Lance wrote the articles linked below, he was co-minister for the West Islip Church of Christ on Long Island, sharing the pulpit with his wife, Rev. Dr. Katie Hays.  Lance has now joined the faculty of the Brite Divinity School in Ft. Worth, Texas in the fall of 2010 as the Granville and Erline Walker Assistant Professor of Homiletics. He did undergraduate work at Abilene Christian University and completed his B.A. at Austin Graduate School of Theology (formerly known as the Institute for Christian Studies) in 1991. He earned the M.Div. from Yale Divinity School in 1994 and will receive his Ph.D. from Emory University in December, 2010. His teaching and research are focused on homiletical theory, biblical hermeneutics, and preaching. He is an active member of the Academy of Homiletics. An ordained minister for 16 years in the Churches of Christ, Rev. Pape has served congregations in Texas, Alabama, and New York.  He is now affiliated with the Disciples of Christ.
