Electra, Texas

Thompson Ward School #1, Box 1 #249

Electra, Texas is a town that was associated with the Triple D ranch, home of Fort Worth catttleman and businessman W. T. Waggoner.  The Thompson Ward Elementary school is still standing but in disrepair and used as storage and the school bus yard..  It was replaced by newer elementary schools.

Thompson Ward School, Box 2 #268

This school was the new high school in designed and built in 1917.  It was in use from 1917 to 1944 when a new and larger high school was constructed.  The old high school then became a Jr. High School, and finally a ward (elmentary) school.  In 1954, the ownership of the building and land reverted to the Waggoner estate.  They donated the land to the Catholic Church that presently occupies the land.  No photo has been located at this time.
